Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is the primary advocate for advancing the mission of MOM. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operational, and fundraising activities of this highly visible community organization providing services to address local poverty. By symbolizing the mission of MOM and ensuring the organization is consistently presented in a positive manner, the Executive Director develops, nurtures, and grows MOM’s network of committed donors and volunteers.
Nine staff and over 15,000 volunteer hours support MOM’s key organizational initiatives.
-Oversees fundraising planning and execution, including identifying resource requirements; researching and connecting with varied funding sources; establishing strategies to approach donors/funders; coordinating and overseeing special events; developing and submitting grant proposals; and overseeing fundraising records and documentation.
-Provides leadership to staff and volunteers through the establishment of goals, objectives, and procedures; develops administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met.
Oversees an organizational structure which ensures programmatic objectives are aligned with the mission and are supported by finances, facilities, communication initiatives, and/or mutually beneficial partnerships.
-Promotes a common organizational vision and culture that fosters open and frequent communication, teamwork, and a passion for the mission of MOM.
Conducts outreach and engages in productive collaborations with organizations that align with and support MOM’s mission.
-Oversees the financial operations of MOM including: creating annual budgets, monitoring actual financial performance relative to budgets, monitoring cash flows, and providing required reports to the Board and outside agencies.
-Collaborates with and supports the Board of Directors to develop, communicate and sustain a clear vision, mission and strategy for the organization.
-Ensures compliance with all not-for-profit regulations.
-Promotes and models an organization that embraces and encourages diversity, compassion, integrity and respect.
Qualifications:
-Significant and proven leadership skills coupled with well-rounded experience in the areas of: relationship building, resource development, program enhancement, marketing, and organizational and strategic planning.
-Palpable enthusiasm and passion for the mission of MOM with the ability to effectively promote the organization’s value across a variety key stakeholder groups including staff, the business and philanthropic communities, community leaders, the general public and the media.
-Proven, well-rounded success in generating revenue through a variety of fund development methods, including: major gifts solicitation, annual campaigns, capital campaigns, strategic partnership alliances, special events and grant proposals.
-Demonstrated success in developing, managing, and leading employees and volunteers. Ability to foster a healthy organizational culture, to encourage teamwork and collaboration.
-Demonstrated experience developing and/or enhancing programs through effective outcome measurement.
-Proven skills developing and implementing strategic business plans.
-Financial and operational acumen; direct experience with budgeting and P&L oversight.
-Experience working with a Board of Directors.
-Goal oriented, compassionate, visionary leader who possesses the creativity and drive necessary to expand MOM’s reach and the willingness to act as a change agent.
-Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong presentation skills.
