Development and Public Relations Manager at Vista Vocational & Life Skills Center, Westbrook, CT

Vista Vocational & Life Skills Center is a nationally recognized, post-secondary program for adults with neurological disabilities. Vista offers a community based training program designed for individuals who would like to succeed in work and independent living, and who are seeking a non-traditional program to address their needs. Vista's philosophy looks at each individual holistically. Our mission is to provide services and resources on an individualized basis to assist adults with disabilities to live an independent and successful life. We are a NCASES accredited organization. The main Vista campus is located in Westbrook CT, serving communities along the shoreline in south central Connecticut.

We are currently seeking a Development and Public Relations Manager  This position will be responsible for  developing,overseeing and implementing various development and public relations functions, including special events planning, fundraising, communication and public venues and community relations initiatives.

The Development and Public Relations Manager will work closely with all levels of management , staff members, families, Board members and the general community. This position is part of the organizations management team and leadership.The Manager of Development and Public Relations must have a commitment, vision and understanding of the basic philosophy and mission of the organization.


The successful candidate must have knowledge, experience and previous success in the following areas:

• Oversight in the planning and implementation of special events and on site logistics as well as event publicity.
• Recruiting and developing and organizing team based and individualized fundraising including online fundraising techniques and programs.
• Researching new opportunities for events and fundraising programs that help to raise money and provide greater public relations for the organization.
• Recruit, create and lead volunteer committees for various events.
• Have oversight of all aspects of acknowledgement for donor gifts and accurate record keeping of event and program expenses and revenues.
• Seek out new sponsors and donations of goods and money to support events and fundraising programs.
• Serve as an ambassador for Vista in the community and the wider world.

 

• Must have a minimum of a B.S. or B.A. in a related field.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of related experience and previous success in the following areas:
• Fundrasing and donor development
• Sales call experience
• Coordinating fundraising events
• Previous website management a plus.

 

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, provide references and agree to investigative background checks. 

Essential to the position is the ability to understand, believe and communicate the Vista philosophy and mission.
