Midwest Technical Inspections, Inc., established in 1988, is a privately-owned company providing residential and commercial inspections to insurance companies for underwriting purposes. With our Home Office in Hanover Park, IL, and our inspectors working from their homes, we service our customers’ property and casualty needs throughout the U.S.
We also have a National Call Center, completing insurance underwriting phone surveys of contractors, homeowners, auto owners, and business owners.
Position to be Filled
As a result of our continued growth and expansion, we have an immediate need for an ACCOUNT MANAGER (OUTSIDE SALES). The successful candidate will work from our Corporate Office in Hanover Park, IL.
Previous Experience Preferred: Position is Open to Recent Grads As Well
Whether experienced in Sales, or a recent graduate with a Sales & Marketing or an Insurance Degree who’s new to Sales, the successful candidate will have the drive and motivation to find the potential customers and make the sales. Compensation will be a combination of base salary and commission, and the candidate who truly enjoys sales and is a successful salesperson as a result, will reach his/her goals, as the opportunities definitely exist.
We do prefer candidates with previous business-to-business sales experience, and experience with selling loss control or inspection services is a significant plus. Strong consideration will also be for candidates with experience selling P&C underwriting, or in P&C business-to-business insurance sales.
We will train the successful candidates on all aspects of our company operations, with the goal of building our base through outside business-to-business sales and by effectively managing active accounts.
Responsibilities
Business Development: prospecting potential customers, making them aware of our lines of products and services. This takes the form of heavy phone and computer work during the research and contact phase, with the goal to get the potential client to consent to a telephone and/or in-person meeting to progress the relationship.
Scheduling and presiding at meetings with decision-makers, ranging from one-on-one to small or larger group presentations, with the goal to establish the account and begin a long-term relationship with on-going inspection orders.
Maintaining the relationship, which requires consistent contact via telephone/email and occasional in-person visits to answer questions, solve problems, etc.
Travel
This position involves up to 40% travel, including overnight trips. A typical cycle might be: research, calls & scheduling appointments (for the following week) in week 1, then on-site customer visits Tues-Thurs in week 2, etc.
Compensation
There is a base compensation along with a performance compensation (commission), based on the success of the Account Manager’s sales efforts. The total compensation package can be tailored to goals being met and to overall performance expectations based on experience and demonstrated skills.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree with a Sales & Marketing or Insurance Major (for recent grads) or a Degree with 2 years of business-to-business selling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, determined by the company.
This position is open to new college grads (Sales & Marketing Degrees preferred) and/or to applicants who have sales experience. We seek individuals who love to sell, who understand that adequate preparation is key.
